The Challenge
Since EBARA’s founding in 1912, the company has provided products and services that are essential for day-to-day living and for industries around the world, contributing to the resolution of social issues, and the preservation and improvement of the global environment.
Looking ahead to the next 100 years, EBARA strives to be a manufacturer of industrial machinery that grows and develops its business on a global scale.
The Solution
The STAR RFID solution deployed at the Futtsu plant covers an area of approximately 24,000 square meters. The system uses electromagnetic waves received with a total of 262 antennas installed on pillars inside the facility and detects RFID tags which are electrically excited by the waves, to track the location.
The location data from tags labeled on components enables real-time asset visibility for inventory and location management. The solution is capable of wide-area spatial coverage on the custom pump production line at the Futtsu plant.
Based on their extensive experience and knowledge, IBM Japan provided support to install the STAR System from consulting through the operation of the system.
As part of the company’s “E-Vision 2030” program, EBARA is allocating resources to optimize to manufacturing, technology, and information processes as part of their Material Issues (Materiality) philosophy. EBARA intends to promote transformations in production processes utilizing IoT to pursue for greater product quality and higher efficiency in business operations.
The Result
With the Acceliot STAR system, EBARA expects to improve real-time location management and visibility of components inside the plant, reduce manpower, improve component search efficiency and increase productivity.
The data obtained from the STAR system will be analyzed and utilized with a view to deploying the system at other EBARA plants to reduce lead times and enhance manufacturing processes.
